COVID-19 - When You Least Expect It šŸ˜·

Hi Corky,

This latest round seems much tamer, a bunch of people I know said it was like a cold. Maybe the damn thing is finally running out of steam. Hope you feel better soon!

Well, son visiting from N Carolina just got a positive 'Rona test. Wife and I have an appt later this afternoon. I feel fine, bit of a cough, low-grade temp. Got zinc, vitamins, etc. going. I almost have some sort of cough from allergies all the time, so lots of supply on hand. Guaifenesin, Quercetin, Advair, rescue inhalerā€¦

Hi Richard

Sorry to hear that. I was unable to get antibodies, so vitamins and pain reliever were all I could do. Low grade fever, on and off, for several days. I am in day 11 and still have cough, burning in sinuses and chest. The headache has been consistent. No smell or taste, so Iā€™ve lost at least 10 lbs. Water is a must! Been in bed a lot, but try to stay up as long as I can. If you guys test positive, just settle in for the storm, and ride it out. At the end, we will hopefully have many strong antibodies for the next wave.

Stay well my friend

Corky

Glad to hear youā€™re on the mend. If you are day 11 and its not getting worse you should be in the ā€œfortunateā€ group. My wife just tested positive, has had symptoms about 5 days, like a cold so far and she seems to be getting better. Apparently Omicron is a more contagious, less pathogenic strain and thatā€™s a good thing. Weā€™ve all been slamming down the Emergen-C Immunne+ vitamin packs you mix with water. They actually taste good after a while, lol. But its an acquired taste, as they say!

Thank you! I am looking forward to getting back to Cantabile and the scene soon.

Very glad to hear she is getting better. I have some Emergen-C, but forgot about it. Will break it out today.

10lbs? Not a little bit. Glad to see you are posting again

After 13 days of this mess, I am finally back to playing a keyboard again, trying to catch up on things I havenā€™t been able to do. I was told I had the Delta variant, so I was happy I had the vaccine earlier in the year. I still have a slight cough, headache, a little brain fog left, and some lessening lung problems. I feel very fortunate in not having major issues. Thanks for all the prayers and kind words.

Stay safe my friends

In CT the Delta variant is still around but most people have the ā€œColdvidā€ variant - fatigue, congestion that can be treated with OTC decongestants, mild cough and sneezing.

I had it also, took zinc, Mucinex, vitamin C and D and Quercetin. Took about 10 days to clear out.

Did not know you had it. Glad you only had cold symptoms. Also didnā€™t know about Quercetin. We are all eventually going to have it, but hopefully will have some form of natural immunity to stave off future variants.

 8Ā° in the mountains this morning, I took my walk and it felt like Canada again (it was -30Ā° in Calgary this week at my brotherā€™s). If the virus doesnā€™t catch me the common cold might. Best wishes to all who have been fighting the muck, get well soon!

Hi Dave

30 here and snowing this morning. I doubt I will take a walk though. Your part of the country is very special this time of year, especially with snowfall.

FWIW, Iā€™ve seen recent reports of studies showing nasal irrigation with 1% solution of povidone iodine is shown to virtually eliminate sinus covid viral loads (99% reduction) within a day. The reports say its a long standing remedy recommended by docs to sinusitis sufferers.

If true, both early disease use and prophylaxis use could go a long ways towards mitigating sickness and spread. Plus it is effective against most if not all viruses and bacterium that get a foothold in the sinuses.

I decided to give it a go and per recommendations mixed one part of the commonly available OTC 10% product with ten parts distilled (sterile) water and used with a nasal sprayer. Initial thoughts are it works wonders for feeling a cold coming on and knocking it out before it goes anywhere. Of course ymmv, Iā€™m not a doctor, etc, etc. but definitely worth looking into imo if youā€™re seeking ways to avoid sickness.

Covid seems to have left me with a severe reaction to alcohol- as in, one beer or shot produces nausea and severe hangover symptoms. Yep, apparently thatā€™s a thing. Rare, but a thing.

Those who know me find it ironic.

I canā€™t taste a beer, so Iā€™ve become a non-drinker. Gave up doughnuts and steak too.

But there is still, sex, drugs and rock and roll?

Do you guys know what Delta 8 hemp extract is? Thereā€™s CBD which doesnā€™t have THC in it and doesnā€™t get you high. Then thereā€™s Delta 8 which does, and sorta does. Iā€™ve been taking it for pain and to sleep. Well I took some last night and I basically had the same dreams as when youā€™re running a 103 degree fever.

Here, let me illustrate with an audiovisual aid:

It is for sure, but when you canā€™t taste it and enjoy it, what the hell. Might as well eat cardboard. :unamused:
