COVID-19 - When You Least Expect It šŸ˜·

When moderate drinking started giving me hangovers I just trailed off

yeahā€¦
many smells/tastes heavily distorted too
But I eat all the food anyway for the sake of physical being
Even drinking coffee has become kind a test of mental strength

I absolutely hear you. Now itā€™s not about tasteā€¦only textures. Tastes like soft cardboard compared to hard cardboard.

Apparently it comes back though, sometimes slowly and sometimes quick, no rhyme or reasonā€¦ Be glad though that you havenā€™t got what a friend of mine has. Her sense of taste and smell came back, but really twisted so that everything tastes literally like s*#Ā£ she can only eat about 3 foods, even water makes her feel sickā€¦
Horrid.

My wife lost smell and taste for 3 weeks and was freaking out. Then a friend of mine told me he retrained his smell by smelling things like mint and peanut butter and imagining the proper smell to reestablish to his brain what the smells were. I tried that with wife and she had pretty much full smell and taste back in around 48 hours. Coincidence? We canā€™t know. But, she has senses backā€¦

I on the other hand wake up every damn day with a hangover.

I canā€™t taste peanut butter, or smell it. Mint is only a heat burn,no taste. I took 3 shots of Hot Damn yesterday, and only felt the burn. Canā€™t even get drunk if I wanted to. :weary:

Dude. Try the retraining for shits and giggles for a few days. If it works that would be some significant corroborationā€¦

Cool. Maybe nothing will happen but it will make an interesting experiment. Fingers crossedā€¦

Whether it is genuine or placebo/psychosomatic - if it works it works.

There used to be a peanut butter smell test where if you could smell in one nostril but not the other, it was considered diagnostic for early Alzheimerā€™s. I guess thatā€™s out the window with covidā€¦
