In fact you are where I learned about Acoufiend from, so thanks again for the heads up! It is a gem, imo.
Thatās interesting hadnāt thought to try two instances of it. Do you mean you have one set up for sustain and another setup for feedback, and you switch between them? Or something else? Thanks!
Tom
A little O/T, but I will mention it. In Carlos Santanaās Master Class, he shows how he gets sustain on stage. His technician tests the exact spot on stage where the magic sustain occurs. The technician then lays a yellow āXā with tape. Carlos then walks to the spot, when needed. It works every time.
Once you get the āsustainā instance dialed in you can just leave it. It will behave a lot like a real amp. Then set the other up to start doing its thing however you prefer. The āsustainā instance doesnāt really need to get turned off when the other part start, at least not the way Iād use the āsquealā partā¦normally I donāt want it until the sustain has happened a few seconds. BTW, using multiple instances is in the manual!
Forgot to add, do them parallel not series. Basically treat as send guitar to two aux with Acoufiend 100% wet on the aux.
Hi All,
TONEX pedal update 1.80 adds modulation and delay effects to Tonex. Free update adds Chorus, Tremelo, Flanger, Phaser and Rotary modulation and Tape and Digital delay to the app and the pedal firmware. This brings the pedal closer to Kemper and others in that regard. Also there is a scheduled update coming that will add a live editor to the mix. One of the drags about the pedal was that you had to use PC with itās own audio interface and the pedal when programing. With that update it will be direct editing of the pedal presets with the app and currently there is a sale on the pedal and TONEX MAX software package.
The FX are respectable and make it more complete one box solution for live work.
Dave
I ordered the TONEX pedal recently. Since I already had TONEX MAX I had hope not to pay twice for the software.
That wasnāt possible so I only could use Jampoints to make the prize a bit friendlier.
Please update us on how the Tonex pedal is working for you. Iām seriously considering one as a simple on the floor solution for some different overdrive bass sounds to use live that Iām now using in Tonex for recording. I was thinking of the small Tonex pedal as I only need a few sounds when playing live but some Tonex users talked me out of it.
It has replaced all the amps and pedals we used to use and since our guitarist also plays bass it covers both. He just pops the guitar cable loose and pops it into whatever Axe he is going to play and selects his patch. I put it and a Roland TU-2 in a small Roland BCB pedalboard box and it covers it all. Very pleased at how it worked out for my band anyway. Looking forward to the direct editor update they spoke of.
Since I am playing less guitar at gigs now, I decided to stay with the software. My youngest son is now learning guitar, and if he stays with it, I will probably gift him a ToneX pedal in the future, instead of software. He has all my ancient fx pedals, though I hope to get them back some day.
Must be the BCB 30, our singer has the BCB 6 - we would have to cut it to fit the Tonex pedal
Yes, it is a 30 and yes I had to custom cut it and left the foam. I also used Velcro on both pedals to hold them in place. I put a short right angle connector to female jack for the Tonex output because it is a snug fit.
Love it!!!
Just purchased four of the five TH-U āMade in Rockā series sims from Overloud because the cab sims in them are just spectacular with my real amps. And the amp sims themselves are pretty nice too. They canāt hang with my real amps, but they are more than decent. AudioDeluxe has single titles for this collection, bundle of three, bundle of five on sale plus a Christmas coupon on top of that, plus rewards cash can also be applied if you have any with them. Has a very three dimensional sound I canāt get with static IRs.
TH-U was always my go to a few years ago. They really upped their game recently, and I am also finding the same 3D you described.
I did some testing with the TONEX Pedal now. Hardware and software work fine so far. I had to lower the input trim in the pedals global settings to adapt it to my guitars. The default presets often donāt use the lately added FXs so I made my own but Iām not a guitar player in first place so this is highly subjective.
I think it is a good way to use the sounds live since with the TONEX MAX software on a laptop you are always forced to be logged in to their product manager.
The TH-U cabs with their āFluid IRā technology just obsoleted my thousands of static cab IRs, lol. I tried Celestionās dynamic IR earlier and hated it so this was a nice surprise that these are so good.
The āMade in Rockā series are captures/models of specific artist owned amps/cabs used on specific albums that a collector in Italy has acquired. And sure enough they sound like the record, especially the cabs with real amps pushing them. The amp sims themselves are nice enough to use to keep playing time off of my tubes, plus the Nembrini sims sound great thru these cabs too.
Which did you purchase, and which do you like best? Iāve been using THU for a few years now, along with others like S Gear and neural DSP. Iāve bought several THU libraries in the past few years, but pretty much stopped since I now build my tones from scratch, and mostly just reuse tones Iāve already created for consistency. Maybe itās time Santa brought me a new THU library.
THU is certainly the most flexible for me, thereās pretty much no tone I canāt get, especially with some careful pre and post EQ. But neural DSP sounds and feels best to me, especially Corey Wong. However it does have a bigger CPU hit, which does need to be managed.
There are only five at this point and I bought all but the Laney (Black Sabbath). So three guitar cabs: a vintage Marshall, a vintage AC30, and a modern Hiwatt style cab with vintage Fanes. The Acoustic bass rig isnāt as good a cab imo but the amp sim itself is nice and sounds great with my regular bass IRs. Audio Deluxe had a sale (maybe still going on) to buy three for cheaper than individually, and I had already bought the Hiwatt, and so when I decided I wanted the Marshall and AC30 too, I just bought the bundle and got the Acoustic bass with them. LOL, shows how much I did not like the Laney since I passed on it and got the bass rig instead. I like all three of the guitar cabs equally using my three corresponding real amps thru them. Definitely worth a demo imo.
[edit] The MIR AC30 is an odd bird in that the amp its modeled on was modded for big midrange. But the cab part is stock vintage and sound great with a real amp going thru it that doesnāt have the midrange mod. Also sounds nice using the Nembrini AC30 sim with its cab bypassed going thru this cab. All to say, if you demo it, donāt let the midrange honk turn you against it. The honk is in the amp sim, not in the cab sim.
Also, it comes with some additional āstarter cabsā from the TH-U product, and there is a 2x12 greenback cab that is really nice and I think I liked one other one. So a couple of free bonus cabs come with it.
Thanks, Iāll check it out. Especially the Marshall and AC30.
