Nailed Eddieâs guitar tone! And the Oberheim too, itâs funny because everyone plays that keyboard part when they hear a wide open saw patch but itâs hard to really get it exact.
Wasnât really aiming for âexactâ - mainly wanted to get the overall vibe right⌠One of the secrets to the sound is to not have the filter wide open; rather close it quite a bit and play with the filter envelope vs. the amp envelope. Also, I routed the output of the synth through a bit of tape saturation to warm it up.
BTW: the synth is none of the usual âcloneâ suspects, but Surge XT - but with some âclassic synthâ wavetables borrowing the Oberheim sawtoothâŚ
I remember playing âJumpâ in bands of the 80s/90s. I still have a live recording from one of the bands here. I had a Kurzweil K2500 in the 90s where I didnât get the sound completely right but now there are other options.
Thank you Laura, do you also have a you-tube channel where i can listen to your performances ?
If you need some sequences you can email me at albertvvl@gmail.com
Much of what I have on there is pre-cantabile.
I have only started using cantabile 12 months ago, uploading what Iâve done with it in the last 8-9 months. I think this one may interest you, in the past being quoted as Jarre like, I personally cant see the connection. Although itâs pre cantabile ( I hope no one minds ), it will be re-done with Cantabile as I feel its a bit weak in parts, (especially the start of the melody).
I still have anxiety (and arthritis) issues which you rarely see me play anything. that in it self is a work in progress.
Thanks
Instruments I used for this then was SY77,SY35,MC307,XD-5.
run by daw on one PC, audio mixed with a Tascam MM-1
to another PC to record the session.
I have no idea yet what VSTâs Iâll be using for the new recording of it.
