Hi @Sergio, just to give a bit of context to your joy and complete the info, here is what I received from UAD:

Good news, … Now you can activate all of your native UAD plug‑ins and apps on up to three devices and use them anywhere — without internet or connecting an iLok.
…

Offline? No Problem

Moving activation to your computer means you can work totally offline, without worrying about downtime during outages.

Activate on up to Three Devices

We’ve increased your number of activation locations, so now you can use your plug-ins on up to three computers.

Your Studio On‑The‑Go

You can still activate licenses at any time on an iLok USB (v2 or v3), so you can take your plug‑ins and apps with you to any location.

I am glad for this move by UAD. I had stopped using their Lexicon and Leslie simulations because every time I had to re-activate the license (it was on the cloud) when moving from the desktop to the laptop (and sometimes the plugin seemed not activated even when I had done everything needed, at least everything I was aware of, to activate them).

Finally !!!

I am a perennial “confused of Wales” re ilOK grumbles, as I have used iLOK for years node locked to my devices and never had an issue. But maybe I have just been lucky

Well… I lost three hours of my life with this UAD/iLok puzzle.

  • Macrium Reflected hard drive for the impending disaster (5:06 pm CST)

  • Installed UA_Connect

  • This installed PACE Copy Protection for iLok

  • Connected to WiFi

  • Setup iLok account (I’ve never had an iLok account, but UA must have set one up for me because I had to reset an existing one - Still confused about that)

  • Took quite a while to redeem, activate, and download all 18 UA Native Plugins
-All the UAD native plugins are shown “Installed” on UA Connect

  • iLok shows 18 licenses (That’s what I have from my UAD accelerator cards that are now available native)

  • Cantabile can load the UAD VST3 plugin in routing diagram.

  • I “think” something is passing through the plugin, but the faceplate is blurry. When the plugin is bypassed, sound is different. Nothing on faceplate is accessible with mouse.

  • All indications are that the native plugins are activated on MUSICLAPTOP with both UA Connect and iLok, but nothing appears to work.

  • After reboots, VST Scans, WiFi On, WiFi Off, etc., the conclusion is F’ this and reflect back to the 5:06 pm image at 8:07 pm.

Probably me, but I’ve had enough. I haven’t purchased a UAD plugin since 2018 and I’m evidently not going to anytime soon.

Thanks for the info. I was tempted to follow instructions from another site, but too many people were having very different results. Some had no problems, while others were debating the system flaw. I only have Waterfall Organ, Waterfall Leslie, and a cheap studio IR. From what I read, this should remove the cloud and use the dongle only for installing license to to the machine, which I, and others have been begging for. I may give it shot next week when I get some time. Those who were lucky to ditch the dongle are reporting a quick loading time.

It seems I was lucky, then. I confirm the quick load time, compare to what I had before. I do not use a dongle. I had one desktop and one cloud activation for each plugin and often I got the “blurry UI” problem (which has disappeared now!!).

What I see now, in iLock, is that all UAD activations are now “desktop” activations (no cloud!) and that I have now a max of 3 activations (I am using 2 of them).

All I had to do was updating UADConnect and reactivate the plugins.

Actually, in a very short time I performed the move.
I have in my pc desktop the UA Connect, iLok, CA Sync, IK, etc. apps always available to see any updates:
app control

In particular, with UA Connect, I followed the instructions without difficulty and within a minute I solved it, with:
Setting —> Activation Location —> Manage.
UA Connect updates itself very often, so when I turn on the pc, it updates automatically.
With the arrangements I have in the desktop above I am always up to date!

Sergio

All looked good on the MUSICLAPTOP other than the “Blurry UI.” Seemed to be authorized and when the plugin was bypassed in Cantabile Routing View the sound changed. Maybe I’ll try again.

Since I’ve got last night’s image, I’ll give try to load again this morning. Maybe the “Blurry UI” will be gone.

Same experience as @cdv_gabriel and @Sergio, here. Everything went clockwork-like.

Tried again, same “Blurry UI” on all UAD plugins

  1. Verify WiFi and Internet
  2. Load UA Connect
  3. Prompted to log into UAD account
  4. Download ALL (All plugins show INSTALLED)
  5. Login to iLok (All licenses are shown active on MUSICLAPTOP)
  6. Run Cantabile, scan VSTS (UAD plugins are present in list)
  7. UAD plugins are “Blurry UI”
  8. Reimage CDrive.

Entire process took 17 minutes this time. Cloning SSD is an additional 5 minutes. It’s something with the authorization process. I’ll keep reading.

I did not open iLok until after setting everything up with UA Connect. Or rather, I opened iLok after the setup: in iLok I didn’t do anything, I just observed that what was in the cloud was automatically moved to the root directory.
Can this help?
Maybe the problem is where (in the pc or ssd’s) you have your UAD vst’s “recognized”?

Thanks. I’m sure the issue is something I’m not doing properly with the authorizations. I’ve never used an iLok. All my UAD plugins are authorized to my UAD Hardware Quads and Octos on the separate desktop DAW. I’ve never had UAD plugins on the Cantabile laptop because I didn’t want to deal with an iLok and UAD was always my compressors/EQ/effects VST and not instruments. Do I really need a “perfect emulation” LA2A UAD plugin when there are many other compressors for live environment? But… I’ve got a lot of money invested in UAD hardware/software and I’d to at least see what happens native.

There are lots of threads on the UAD Forum about Blurry plugins; and I mean A LOT. Search “Blurry” and get ten pages of different posts. When I decide the juice isn’t worth squeeze, I’ll remain status quo.

Maybe the problem could be here, you could set your UADs in Cantabile and since Cantabile is set in your PC, then UAD Connect should recognize these vst in YOUR PC.
Would that help?

I do not understand. Cantabile is not on DAW with UAD hardware DSPs. Native UAD VST have never been on Cantabile Laptop.

In this case I’m sorry I can’t help you, my vst’s are all in Cantabile and UAD Connect sees them there.

I’m putting a help ticket to UAD. I can move the licenses to MUSICLAPTOP from iLok, Deactivate Licenses, Reactivate Licenses, but still blurry UI. Multiple VST cans, reboots, etc. and no help.

Got it… After reading UAD support articles, UAD must have “WebView2” installed to be “Unblurry.” That explains why the plugins appeared to effect the sound but were not accessible… maybe.

That’s great!
