Waves H-Reverb plugin won't load (error code 13254)

Hi there,

I’ve recently assembled a new desktop PC (Windows 11/64), installed Cantabile Lite (Build 4220, x64) and Waves Ultimate (2024.12.18). The H-Reverb Stereo plugin won’t load, and a message “error code 13254” will pop up. I tried loading some other plugins from this Waves bundle; some will load and some won’t. Interestingly, the very same H-Reverb works perfectly in the older Cantabile app (Build 4207) on my old PC. I tried reverting to the same Cantabile build (4207) on my new PC but to no avail.
Any ideas how to get H-Reverb to work the way it should?

Hi Paul

Waves, for some unknown reason, will not load in Cantabile. I don’t know why, but I am thinking it has something to do with the waves wrapper. However, It loads perfectly on every other vst host I’ve tried.
My work around on this, is to use Blue Cat PatchWork as a host within Cantabile. It works flawlessly. I don’t like adding another host in my chain, but Patchwork adds no extra load.

I think @Brad checked into it a few years ago, but nothing came from it. It would be nice to have it resolved though.

Thanks, Corky! I’ll give PatchWork a try. I just want to point out that those two Waves effects (L2 Maximizer and H-Reverb) worked seamlessly on my older PC, which means that the newer Windows 11 build (or updates) must be somehow interfering with Cantabile or Waves. Otherwise, why would the same Cantabile and Waves builds behave differently? Moreover, last fall, I also tried these two effects on my Intel NUC nettop (Windows 11), and had no issues with them whatsoever in Cantabile.

Don’t know :man_shrugging:

I just tried the latest waves (downloaded this morning to new Windows 11 installation) with latest Cantabile and it seems to work fine:

Perhaps compare your precise version number to that shown in screen shot?

I looked up the error and it basically means the plugin instance is returning a non-success code when Cantabile asks it to initialize.

(I’ve reached out to Waves to see if they have any insight).

Hi Brad!
Thanks a lot! I re-installed Waves Central and the FX suite and it did the trick!
