I had a binding that faded my Acoufiend rack in C3, so it was several bidnings with delays, each a set gain value (i.e. -2db, -4, etc). After moving from C3 to C4 the binding is jsut duplicated, but all the values from all the bindings are in each binding now:
How to I simply fade a rack’s output? Is there an easier way now in C4?
Also, if I want to advance to the next state after that fade is complete, what’s the easiest way to do that? I read the Guide, posts, and tried a few different things but I must be missing something. Should I add another binding like this?
And on the previous Fade binding should I leave it as is or should I set to shcedule with other bindings in this rack? Sorry, I’m still trying to wrap my head around the new binding setup. (I miss triggers )
Many thanks !
Tom
Have you tried Smoothie by Forum contributor @Hamlen? I put his VST in a rack and use it to do what you describe. The standalone plugin is easy but the rack requires a little learning curve to get going but after that it’s easy to use. It provides smooth fader data by either binding directly to a Cantabile slider/fader or using MIDI values (0~127). I included separate limit switches in the rack and they fire a CC button when the slider reaches max or min value. To me it sounds like it would do what you want to do. You could also just use the plugin discreetly and create any custom binding you want for it. I hope this helps. I can help with set up if needed.
Thanks, Dave, I just read the posts about Smoothie and saw your video and Torsten’s rack, definitely sounds like a solution. I’ll give that a try. Many thanks!
BTW I also read the requests for Brad to build in fade options, but I couldn’t find anything further as to whether that was implemented, I’m guessing from your reply it hasn’t been yet.
I also ran into another thing I’m trying to do… what binding would send a delayed CC after a state load? For example, when moving to song state 2, after 5 secs I want to fire CC21 to a specific rack? I ran out of time so I only spent 10 minutes playing with it… I’m away from my DAW now but I tried a few things using State OnLoad, object being the target rack and point as CC21, but couldn’t get the CC to actually generate. And that was without the delay… of course once I can get it to send the CC I can just adjust the delay.
I think part of my confusion was the Midi:in Midi:out options in the target fields. One option was something like Rack midi:in and I thought it would work since of course I want to send the CC to the target rack. I’ve read and watched videos, but I guess I need to spend some more time with Brad’s videos on bindings.
Thanks!
Tom
