Time based midi filter

Hi guys,

I’m new to Cantabile, looking at live performance options mixing guitar with synths. Cantabile is looking quite great so far!

My general goal is to ‘direct’ virtual instruments using guitar and midi expression pedal/footswitch. Conceptually, contrasting the direct sound extraction from the traditional guitar with layered VST instruments that just take some input from the guitar and controllers, and build the sound on their own.

To get there, one of the main things I need is a time based midi filter - imagine playing a lead line, and passing only the first note on every measure to a midi processing plugin that creates a harmony, that then gets sent to a synth.

Does anybody know of something that can filter midi like this? I’m using JamOrigin’s MidiGuitar which is quite great, and it has a LUA based interface for creating midi machines, I’ll try scripting it there.

Thanks, and cheers to the cool community!

I just figured out a part of it - using the wonderfully useful BlueArp - http://graywolf2004.net/wp/ and Chordz - http://www.studiotoolz.net/chordz-vst-chord-generator/ - and routing source-bluearp-chordz-synth for the harmony, and source-synth for the lead, it’s working! The second part, getting the current midi note on one channel to sound off on another, when I hit the footswitch, will probably need some scripting
