The Timeline is gone

Help - the Timeline is gone :frowning:

Hi @CologneKeys,

what do you mean exactly? Even view->Timeline menu does not show it? In that case, could it possibly have a null heigth? Can you increase its size by dragging?

Hi Gabriel,
the menu View>Timeline and also Shift E have no effect. I can’t increase its size by dragging - I cannot see any ‘handle’ to do so …

Yes, also on my system, if I drag the timeline down to null size, there is no way to have it back using dragging. However, view->Timeline and CTRL+E work on my system.

Maybe it’s better to involve @brad in this.

Maybe he’ll come by …

Just a question…what do you expect to be displayed in the Timeline? What happens if you create a new song, add a media player and then try to show its media (wav,mp3) in the timeline with CTRL+E?

Wow - strange enough. The Timeline with the wave of the song appears and stays - STRG E only works once. In the other songs theres the same behaviour as before. No reaction to STRG E oder View>Timeline. Another point: the onscreen keyboard is always seen - STRG K doesn’t work at all
I didn’t change anything in the setup … that’s Windows :frowning: Maybe I should reinstall? (Build 3694)

Hi @CologneKeys

Pressing Ctrl+E or choosing View → Timeline should bring it back. If not you might have a corrupted settings.json file. If you’d like to send me a copy I’ll check it out:

  1. Start Cantabile
  2. Go to Tools → Open Settings Folder
  3. Close Cantabile (important)

From the folder opened in step 2, send me a copy of settings.json.

Brad

Note: by default Ctrl+K shows and focuses the keyboard - it does not toggle it on/off.

If you want to hide the keyboard, press Ctrl+K to focus it, then Shift+Escape (or View → Hide Active Bar/Panel) to close it.

If you want Ctrl+K to toggle it, go to Tools → Options → Hot Keys and rebind Ctrl+K from “View - Onscreen Keyboard” to “View → Toggle Onscreen Keyboard”.
