Synthogy Ivory 3 Uprights Windows installation incompatibile with Cantabile

An FYI for Windows Ivory 3 users:

I purchased and installed the Windows update for the two new Ivory 3 uprights. Following the installation, which includes the 3.0.8 Ivory VST3 plugin, none of the Ivory 3 pianos (American/German/Uprights) can be loaded into Cantabile Performer or the Ivory Cantabile player.

I received this clarification from Synthogy support today:

Hi Jon,
The Ivory 3 LE Uprights are currently not working under Windows with the new 3.0.8 plug-in.
For now you can innstall the older 3.0.6 plug-in to restore the functionality of your Ivory 2 and other Ivory 3 pianos. With 3.0.6 installed you will not see the new LE Uprights until we have a new version of 3.0.8. We hope to have a new version/fix soon.
Performing a clean install of 3.0.6 will not disturb your other VST’s which use PACE.

FIXED
:
Synthogy sent me an updated v3.0.8.1 installer for Windows:

https://sustain.synthogy.com/download/ivory3/Install%20Ivory%203%20LE%20Uprights%203.0.8.1.exe

They’ve indicated that it will be on their web site later today.

I tested it with the two new uprights and the American/German Ivory 3 pianos. All good!

Windows 11?

Yes. Windows 11. They all sound quite good with the update.

Successfully installed Ivory 3 American Concert D v3.0.8 last week, but on a Win 10 PC.

Hi Paulo, are there new sample sets for American Concert D v 3 or is it the old v 2 library with the new engine?

Thanks,

Dave

Hi Dave,

Ivory 3 has a completely new set of samples, with its own player. Once installed, you still have the Ivory II as well, with your old engine.

IMHO, in a gig I won’t play i3 since the CPU usage is a bit high. Say TL=18% vs 3%, and the nuances that i3 can provide are not that great compared to those of i2.

P.S. I’m in love with the Pianoteq Kawai grand. This is the first time I think that a modeled piano is better than my beloved huge libraries.

I recently updated Pianoteq to V9. It is amazing. I’ve not had time to test all yet. I am fond of Yamaha, but I will check out Kawai. Any special setup, or straight out of the box?

Hey @Corky,

In your opinion how is it different than the previous releases?

Dave

Hi Dave

A ton of parameters in this one. If you can’t dial in a tone you like, I would be surprised.

Model of the soundboard vibration enhances stereo and spatial perception. Mix up to 8 microphones to stereo or multichannel, and move them around the instrument more easily. (My favorite feature)

New interface features.

All instruments have been upgraded for more realism.

Note-per-note edit of 30+ parameters (e.g. volume, detune, hammer hardness and more)
.
Spectral shaping: edit individual overtones for each note, enabling virtually infinite variations.

Up to 192 kHz internal sample rate for professional recording and mixing.

To be honest, I haven’t tested it thoroughly, yet. I only listened to the pianos in “player” mode with no effects or EQ.

I can’t say how much better it is than version 8 because I had version 6 before that. I wasn’t very impressed by versions 7 and 8.

However, I agree that Yamaha is good. U3 to CFX, they are all excellent for all types of music.
