Hi guys.
Here’s what I’m trying to do.
I want to have my bass synths ie: Taurus, deep strings, etc on it’s own mono channel and keep my other vst’s ie: strings, pads in stereo.
I have a Focusrite 4i4 laying around and can’t quite figure out how to get the mono bass channel configured in Cantabile. No matter what I try there is some bleed into the stereo pair.
Thanks in advance.
Maybe it’s in the 4i4 routing? Not sure exactly how you’re routing in Cantabile but I use multiple outs and don’t get any bleed with any of the several different interfaces including a 2i4, but now I use the Presonus Quantum 2626. You’re probably already doing this, but in Cantabile/Tools create a mono audio out and route to one channel of the 4i4… so let’s say Ch 3. Then make another stereo port for Ch 1&2 of the 4i4. Select the stereo Rack(s) output by double clicking the rack, create a route for stereo to Ch 1-2, do the same for the mono racks but route to ch 3.
Can you use the meters in cantabile to detect the bleed? Probably not if it’s soft. Also, if it’s that soft, it’s probably not affecting your mix. My money is on the routing in the 4i4.
Tom
Thank you
I am trying over and over to do this.
I create a port in options for L&R 1 and 2
Then Mono port to 3
No matter what I do the mono port bleeds over to 2 and vice versa.
Im stuck! lol
Okay I think that looks like the assignments for your 4I4 interface. You have to create the audio ports in Cantabile also, as I noted above. Go to tools, then audio ports and follow my instructions. Which version of cantabile are you using?
That screenshot is the audio config window in Cantabile. I’m stumped
I don’t use Focusrite interfaces, but I can imagine that this type of problem lies within the Focusrite interface control software. It would be worth a screenshot of the control panel for the interface.
I just tested in my 2i4, I have no issues with bleeding. I am testing it on the headphones, but there is a switch on the 2i4 to select whether it is channel 1-2 or 3-4 that goes to the headset. Can you share a screenshot of the routing out of your bass synths? I want to see something like this
I am also using the Focusrite 4i4 (Gen 3) in a similar setup. I’m not hearing any bleedthrough from my bass to the other VSTs. I also have another setup with a 4i4 that runs multiple synth paths. They remain separate. As others have said, the problem may be in how Focusrite Control is configured. Make sure any monitoring paths are disabled; you just want a stereo pair for Output 1 and 2, and another pair (or two monos) for Output 3 and 4.
