I bought Amplitube for $29.

I didn’t see Amplitube for $29. Are you talking about a non MAX version?

It’s on sale on Plugin Boutique, Paolo.

Gabriel

Edit: Yes, non MAX version.

Edit2: I have lots of amp sims and stomp box sims already (mainly Nembrini’s) and I was thinking about buying AT5 from Plugin Boutique. Any idea of what’s missing in the Plugin Boutique version with respect to the MAX one? I looked for it on the net and I stumbled in this (somewhat humorous) thread…

Anyway, on the IK website there are tons of AT5 versions…now if only I could find out which one is on sale on PB…that would be helpful. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Gabriel,

This is a brief summary of Amplitube versions, but it applies to other IK products,as far I know.

  • CS (Custom Shop): The minimal version, can be expanded by buying the wanted components. Not worth, IMHO.
  • SE (Special Edition): It usually comes with hardware and is more complete than the CS versions.
  • “Plain” (no acronym, eg Amplitube). The complete edition.
  • MAX. Complete edition plus expansions. For Amplitube, it means more amps, speakers, stomps.
  • MAX v2. MAX on steroids, with lots (all?) of expansions.

Too bad there’s not a full list of the emulated devices in the comparison chart.

I found this. It doesn’t explain much…

Maybe someone in the @Corky’s guitar amp sim thread could tell us more.

P.S.
Why did I buy Total Studio MAX? For €149 (-20 off with jampoints) I got:

  • Sampletank 4 MAX v2.
  • Amplitube 5 MAX v2.
  • Tonex MAX.
  • Pianoverse MAX.
  • Miroslav Philarmonik 2.
  • Hammond B-3X.
  • SampleTron 2.
  • T-Racks 6 MAX.
  • ARC 4.
    Hyper deal.

Sorry C, l didn’t see your question. Yeah, it’s the non-Max, but for my limited guitar playing and usage, it’s more than enough. I’ve tried to convince my guitar player to go to a system like this, but haven’t been able to. I think the string jockeys draw comfort from all the clicky pedals being between them and the audience. I know when l see a band, l get tired of both guitar players crouching down to twiddle around, along with 60 patch cords all waiting to go bad, to hear, well, a guitar that sounds like, you know, a guitar. I’m not a purist, l won’t ding a band for not sounding just like the record (which may have been played by anybody, with anything). I don’t really want to hear them fill time between songs because the phaser might be a hair off. My favorite story was to learn that Brian May’s recording rig was so primitive. I laugh about how many guitar players chased that sound for years by buying Marshall stacks and effects. Music gear is like golf clubs, somebody will absolutely swear they can make you better with an expensive purchase.

Hi Gabriel! It might not include the Artist packages, Alex Lifeson, for example. I think, if you go to the lK website, find the full name of the Max version, and search it on PB, you’ll find it. It may also include the Tonex pieces, made to work with the pedals, or maybe some of the new Tonex cabinet package.

Hi @vassaux !

Thank you for the info! I finally went for it and I was satisfied by the available combinations, though no “signature” library is included.

There are many patches that could be used as starting point or just for learning how a given sound can be achieved.

Cheers!

Gabriel
