I’m currently building my guitar rig with Cantabile Solo. I use Amplitube 5 VST plus a tuner VST. Unfortunately the Amplitube patch name is too small to be read from the distance. So my idea is to display the incoming program change number in a large window, which I could read from the distance. Is there anything Cantabile has built in? Alternatively, are there any ideas how to solve this? The VST MIDI monitors I found so far display small text only.
I used Performer for many years now, so I am not up to date on Solo. I also have problems reading guitar patches and such. In Performer, I build racks with different patches I use, and change patches within a song using states. Of course, I know ahead of time when, and where I switch patches. Using it without songs or states makes it a little more difficult.
I would only use a few favorite patches, and know where they are located, so you can switch easily without squinting to read. You could use the buttons at the bottom of Cantabile, and give a color for each patch. So, switch green to red…etc. THAT IS, depending on the features of Solo. I actually set up a similar feature years ago with Amplitube and Cantabile, and it worked fine, until I went to song states.
Hello Corky, thanks for your reply! Unfortunately I’m not an expert yet which means I have to study ‘states’. What do you mean with ‘You could use the buttons at the bottom of Cantabile, and give a color for each patch’? Could you provide me with a screen shot, since I do not see any buttons in my Solo version? Thanks and best regards, Stefan
Corky is referring to the virtual buttons you get at the bottom of the screen when in “Live mode”, which is a feature of the Performer version. Also “states” are a feature of Performer.
Thanks to both of you for explaining! I think I’ll try to solve this with a MIDI footcontroller which is capable displaying e.g. a patch number or at least has some LEDs. Best regards, Stefan
FWIW the Song State names can also appear near the top of the screen, and you can make them pretty large. Check out Show notes too… Can do the same thing. But both require you to use song states. After you get used to song and rack states, they are extremely handy.
