Show me your Cantabile Rig!

Hello,
Simple amateur, using performer for +10 years now.
Couldn’t handle the version 3.0 at the time, asI was still in 32.bits.

I’m now with 2 PC - W7 & W10 x64 but still use avery day the last 2.0 version of Performer, with second hand PCs around 50$ each.

Brab is a genius IMHO, but the learning curve for 3.0 & 4.0 version is far too difficult to me.

My rig :
2 midi keyboards, 1 pedal board embeded in a box.

Hola! Been a couple of years I think since I posted, so here’s the latest version of my rig…

I keep the laptop to the side, as I prefer to be able to see over the keyboards and have less barrier between me and an audience.

I’ve just recently started using MixMaxTrix to provide a simple at a glance mixing console for me, and each fader uses a binding to link it to the sliders on my Launchkey Mk3. I’d love to have a second display though - something smallish like an iPad - that i could sit on the side of my SL61 to just display the mixing console. Anyone achieved anything like that?

That mixer plugin is pretty cool. I will need to check that out. Though I think I would prefer something simpler. Just levels. At band rehearsal I use a cheap android tablet for my in-ear mix. If I had something I could run on there in a split screen that would be cool.

I’m currently playing around with a Stream Deck+. But no conclusions yet. Just getting started.

Take a look at Akai’s Midimix. It’s simple and intuitive.

I agree! Would love something that just focused on faders and was much larger on the screen, but this is the best I could find at the moment. Hoping a better option presents itself at some point, but this’ll do for now…

That’s only hardware though isn’t it? Looking for an onscreen mixer plugin…

Yes, it’s hardware, and it’s inexpensive and easy to set up. I know about the VST mixer, and honestly, I don’t know if there are any on the market.

Brad has threatened to add mixer capability to Cantabile.

I looked at midimix and behringer x-touch compact. Both a bit larger than I want. But I could probably make it work.

I currently use the 6 knobs on my keyboard. They tend to spontaneously move a bit when pounding the keys. Sometimes resulting in large volume jumps depending on the physical position vs the virtuaI position. I think I saw a similar complaint about midimix on this forum, though I can’t find it right now. I have been using the Cantabile setting to prevent that, but I don’t really like it.

My desire is for continuous encoders and soft labels. Stream deck checks those boxes in a perfect size for my needs. There are a few similar things out there, but Cantabile support for Stream Deck influenced my choice. Though Cantabile does not support the model with encoders, so I have taken on a bit of a project.

4 knobs is not a lot, but I’m hoping that I can change the connection and label per song or state. But I just got it a couple days ago and there is work to do.

FWIW several folks on here use a touchscreen monitor. I have a GeChic 11.6" one which others here recommended, been working great for several years. Or jsut a 2nd small monitor, around $50 on Amazon.
Of course there are also many screen holders, it looks like you might be able to mount it on your laptop stand and have it extend out underneath or off to the side.

I actually use a dual touchscreen laptop. I had originally hoped to use the lower, smaller display as a mixer, but I haven’t had much success with that theory. I haven’t found anything that fits nicely in the half-height display. I have given some thought to building what I want in Blue Cat Plug’n Script. Blue Cat has some other mixer-ish products that look like they might suffice with a little rocket science.

When I ran across the Cantabile support for Stream Deck, I decided to try that. I love a new toy! But no support for the one with knobs. I’m looking into fixing that. But it also involves some rocket science.

Had a great gig yesterday, huge succes. I took this pic and thought it was nice to share here. Im still very proud of and happy with my laptop only setup. I carpented a special suitcase that has some wiring and the audio interface under a double bottom. On the floor I have a small mixer for adding the monitor mix, and regulating some outputs.
