I have Cantabile Performer and I am sending Patch Change to the plug in by IKmm B-3x. The proper MIDI information is transmitted to the right Cantabile Plugin slot, according to the MIDI monitor pre and post filter (there is no filter applied to this instrument plugin slot) but it seems that the Cantabile Slot does not pass it to the plugin nor the program changes for the slot in Cantabile. All the information comes in, but no program change in Cantabile or the Plugin. I arrived at this conclusion by using the same controller scenario but only launching the B-3x standalone VST instrument with the same hardware MIDI routing as is set up to trigger Cantabile. I send Patch Change to B-3x, and it works perfectly.
Should be simple, but obviously I am missing something.
I did that. It is the craziest thing. I know about creating that list, and I prefer that program change over the cantabile program change (snapshot) but neither work. Outside of C4, all works perfectly.
I just canceled the whole song, and started over, and all started working as expected. Not sure what went wrong! I sure wasted a few hours trying to fix it.
I just ran across this thread. I was not actually aware of the preset assignment thing. I had benn using entire snapgot mode. So I see how I can assign a preset. number here. i added a few to try it out. But if I switch Cantabile to use the plugin’s presets, I atill don’t see them in Canabiles preset list. Can you confirm that you got that to work?
Side note on B-3X. I seem to have problems resizing it. pressing the windows icons at the top right just mo es tne riny GUi between upper left and middle of screen. Dragging the lower right doesn’t work. Until it does. After that initial weirdenss resizing works fine. Are you seeing that?

The preset list in Cantabile will not display the plugin’s preset name, as far as I know. My B-3x stays open on my screen where I can see the program name. I leave it open because I need to see the drawbars to confirm that they are responding to my drawbar controller. I was trying not to use the Cantabile program change, because it has to reload the plugin with each program change.
B-3X resizing is a pain. I am not sure if they corrected this. i have to set my 2 in 1 resolution magnification to 150% (I need global magnification by the way, not just plug in display magnification). I am seeing the problem with resizing, though.
That was my observation. I was hoping that I was doing something wrong. I’ll stick with Entire Plugin Snaphots.
I, too, like to have that GUI open. I wish the resize worked without doing the dance with the resize buttons and corner dragging. Maybe there’s a pattern to it, but, so far, it seems completely random. I just fired up the stand-alone version. It comes up with the tiny GUI, but I can immediately resize it. Some sort of issue with the VST version or Cantabile compatibility?
“Cantabile compatibility”. There’s a tongue twister. The small size is OK for confirming or performing normal operations. Too small for any detailed tweaking.
Come to think of it, I have the resizing problem with Amplitube - also from IK. And that one is completely unusable at the small size. It’s also quite dark. IK’s Modo Bass and Modo Drums also seem to have resizing strangeness.
I’m not sure where I ended up with scaling. I messed around with it quite a lot when I first started out with Canatabile. IK was my first package of VSTs, but, if memory serves, they did not have normal windows-style resizing back then. Not unusual for plugins.
