Separating a bass feed? - help needed

Firstly, sorry if this has a thread somewhere already, but I couldn’t quite phrase the search term correctly to get appropriate responses.

Okay, I am using a keyboard controller (playing live left hand basslines right hand keys/other), in to a laptop running Cantabile 3 and then out via ASIO to a Behringer Xenyx QX USB mixer.

What I would like to do is run the bass out to a separate bass amplifier and not to the FOH speaker system. Ideally I would also like to route the low freq drum components, but that would be too much I think for my budget hahaha! No, just getting the bass separated would be fine.

So, would this be possible using my current gear, or do I need to invest in another mixer or audio interface/mixer combo?

Thanks

PS: Hopefully this is not too O.T!

Hi Dennis,

I think the main limiting factor is that the behringer only has two output channels? If you’re sending stereo to FOH (are you?) then you don’t have another channel. If you’re sending mono foh and mono bass then I guess you could use the left channel for one and right channel for the other.

Aside for that, Cantabile should handle this - just create an extra output port “Bass” and map it to the appropriate channel on your audio driver.

eg: you could do something like this:

which would mix down the main stereo out to mono output on channel 1 and the bass would go to channel 2.

Thanks Brad… what I was hoping was to run the bass out mono, but still maintain a stereo for all the other parts. You are 100% spot on in that the B is not going to cut it, so I need to invest in a separate audio interface - I have found a couple that have 4 outs, so combined with C3 and the interface software I might be able to do it
