I want to record a tutorial or two and started down the path yesterday, but i can not record the audio output from cantabile into the software products I’ve tried (Snipping tool, Snag it).
How do others do it? A loop back at some point? Mixer brought back into a separate audio interface of mic input?
I got VBAudio Cable installed (on two machines) and was able to get some of the correct routing done on using standard apps (media player, Chrome playing something on YouTube) through SnagIt and Camtasia.
However…
When I try to use Cantabile with an ASIO driver (latency, etc) I can’t seem to get the routing quite right. I’ll keep trying, but if someone else has had experience here I’d appreciate the additional help.
I’m also putting together some screen shots that may help others if they’re going to try.
In the meantime, I really want to get this tutorial out to show some of the things that can be done, so I may just do it recording the audio with a second PC and merging the audio back in during the editing.
A while ago I used a software named Flashbackrecorder. If I remember right I could record audio from ASIO sources but I don’t know how actual versions behave in this aspect.
I have experimented with Sonobus to allow me to monitor my audio rig remotely. It allows the audio from Cantabile or any DAW using ASIO drivers to be sent to a monitoring client. This usually is me at to transmit over a network but it also just works on the same machine. This may be a solution.
Otherwise I would try the FlexASIO multiclient driver as long as you can deal with the added latency.
