Hi,
In the Options window is one setting to set the VST Plugins Folders [plural], and the presets [singular]. I have VST plugins from multiple vendors, and well each seems to install their presets in their own folder. In fact in the installation process you’re often not given a choice where the presets are installed.
Maybe I’m confused, but is there a reason you can’t put more than one folder for the plugin presets?
Or maybe this folder isn’t for the plugin presets?
If I recall at all correctly, that particular preset folder is where you can store your .fxb files for each plugin - particularly useful for those where you have to set up your own preset list by renaming the preset in the little window at the top using the top-right drop-down menu’s “Rename” command. That thing takes getting used to. You advance to the next preset, then, select the sound you want associated with that one, and rename the new one. Do not select a sound with a named preset in place or that sound will replace the one the preset had originally.
Keep in mind I’m only referring to that preset window at the very top of each VSTi, with the arrows that can move through it.
You then save the preset list (a “bank”) in that designated folder from the top-right drop-down menu in the VSTi window.
Please correct me if I have that entirely confused, folks! :-/
The only point of the presets folder is that you can put fxb/fxp files there and the insert plugin dialog will show them when the presets category is selected. It’s intended as a way to setup pre-canned plugin states and quickly insert them into a song - instead of inserting the plugin and the importing a preset.
The only reason it only supports a single folder is because more that one has never been asked for and I’ve never thought of it.
To be honest I’m not sure how often this feature is used.
I assure you that it is going to be used now! I didn’t understand it myself till I went through the motions of adding a plugin, and there on the left is a choice saying “presets”. Clicking that I found my own saved banks immediately, and WHOOSH it loaded my Addictive Keys with my favorite sounds already there! That is awesome.
