Greetings to all supporters and lovers of Cantabile. I have been using Cantabile for about 3 years and have it installed on three computers. I use a lot of plugins, the paths of which I installed according to the manufacturer’s recommendations. Now I’m in a big mess because I have plugins and samples in folders in many places and I’m starting to get lost in it. I decided to completely reinstall the entire system and put it in order. I would like to ask for advice and experience on how to proceed with installing plugins and organizing them. Thank you very much friends.
Hi pp3152premysl,
VST 2 plugins have the multiple location problem but VST3 do not and automatically (in 99% of cases ) go to Program Files/Common Files/VST3. To localize my VST2 plugins I installed them all in a common folder I named under Program Files called VSTplugins. Most installers allow you to direct to there but in case they install to a sub directory of the product you can manually move them to the VSTplugins directory and they still work fine provided you copy them and any related resource folders they might have together.
Cheers,
Dave
Quoting Steinberg help page:
The original installation path used when VST had been introduced in 1996 is
C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins
But they claim the thing is a bit messy…
many thanks, Dave
