Hello all,

Welcome to the community! Which version of Cantabile are you using?
Are you saying that you can’t choose drivers or midi input for any plugin at all in Cantabile? Or you can’t choose them for Ivory 3? Try some other simple plugins and see if they’re working. If no plugins are working in Cantabile, first go to Tools in the top center, then select Options. On that window you can create your audio and midi ports, and select your audio driver. For your Ilok problem I suggest you talk to support for Ivory.
Tom
Thank you so much. The I2 has the yellow Cantabile and it works just fine. The I3 has blue engine color and I simply could not select audio driver and midi inputs. I will try as you suggest and let you know. I have contacted Ilok and Synthology on how to get the I3 activated. Dai
Hi @daiphan,
AFAIK, I3 comes with a rebranded version of Cantabile 4, which is the one many of us are using. In the standard version of C4, in order to configure audio you have to select
Tools->Options. A dialog opens and in the Dialog you have to select “Audio Engine”. Here you can choose which audio driver to use and the size of the audio buffer. Then in “Audio Ports” and “Midi ports” you can add audio and midi ports in Cantabile, see this link:

P.S. The link refers to the standard version of C4. I do not know how much the I3 version differs from mine…I hope this info can be of help anyway.
Hello all,
Yes I load the blue Cantabile and Tools-Options and yes I was able to select Kawai VCP-1 and Launchkey 49. I am only able to launch I2 as I3 is red out but the I2 works fine. I have sent email to Ilok as well as Synthology on how to activate the I3. Once I activate I3, do I need to use the blue Cantabile or the yellow that came with I2? I cannot thank you all for this. Dai
TBH, you won’t get any answers here on any “yellow” Cantabile - we all mostly use the current version (Cantabile 4) with some hold-outs on Cantabile 3 (also blue
). And even Cantabile 2.0 had a blue icon, if I recall correctly, so I am very confused when you talk about a “yellow” Cantabile, TBH…
Fundamentally, Cantabile is a software that hosts VST audio plugins (that’s why it is also called a “VST host”) - and Ivory is such a plugin, as many others. I use Ivory within Cantabile 4 without any issues, so you should be able to host Ivory 3 within the latest version of the custom Cantabile version as well.
Have you provided Synthogy with your correct iLok id?
If yes, you should install iLok license manager, login and activate your i3 license from there.
When I use the latest Cantabile 4 I could also use the I2 library. I just got back from 12 years hiatus. I wait to hear from Synthology on how to activate the I3. Dai
AFAIK, it is impossible to activate iLok license through iLok website. You must download and install ilok License Manager on your computer, start it, sign in there with your iLok credentials, and activate the purchased i3 library license, which is separate from i2 library licenses:
https://www.ilok.com/#!license-manager
iLok website allows you only to see all your licenses (My Account → My Licenses). There you can see if your i3 library license was registered with iLok, number of activations (used/total), and on what device these were activated. Here is screenshot of my account on iLok website, which shows that each libary is registered separately, that I used one of 2 allowed activations for each lib, and used my iLok USB token. But I used iLok License Manager desktop application to register each of these libraries after the purchase:
Maybe it is just me but I have had bad luck using any products with iLok…I have basically given up on them. It seems needlessly complicated. Am I just in the minority?
It is pretty straightforward IMO. You just need to complete few, and always the same, steps.
The only challenge I see with iLok Manager is inconsistent expiration, so I just sign in and sync there couple times a week.
