Ordering of, or setting default rack input

I’m playing and depping in some English Ska bands (easy to play, but fun). All of my various organ plugins are in racks, and I like to keep things simple and consistent by having Upper, Lower, and various split options as named rack midi input ports.

I would like to be able to default to the “Upper” input when I insert the rack, but it appears that the default is to take the first item in alphabetical sorting, in this case “Lower”. I have tried an “_Upper” input to force the ordering, but that feels untidy. I don’t see any way of setting a default input, or changing the order of inputs.

My first thought would be a feature request, but any other ideas?

Not sure if this matches your use case, but in cases where I want a particular layout I usually start with a song that already has something similar and tweak it rather than starting from scratch.

Thanks, I do do this in my song templates for things like mixer, vocal and master racks. I think for this use case there’s something like four or five different organ plugins, and that would get complex or messy.

Hi John,

Have you looked at setting the default port in the MIDI port settings for your various key surfaces? It allows you to at least designate 1 key surface as the default regardless of it’s name in the alphabetical order of the rest in a list of ports. Which ever MIDI port you checked the default port box on last is the default.

How about simply numbering the input names - “1-Upper”, “2-Lower”, “3-Pedals” etc?

Thanks, such an obvious idea when you see it :).
