That’s when you want to use the Nord both as a controller keyboard AND as a tone generator in a mix of VST instruments and “real” synths, with Cantabile doing the routing for splits and layers. If you just use the Nord on its own and only want Cantabile to change patches, there’s no need for these acrobatics.
