No signals from one MIDI port

Hi!

I’ve installed the TouchOSC bridge driver, which is a virtual MIDI driver that receives signals from the TouchOSC app running on a tablet or phone. This MIDI port is added and enabled in Cantabile:

Now, when sending a controller signal from TouchOSC, Cantabile’s monitor doesn’t register it. Other devices work fine.

To make sure the bridge driver actually receives MIDI signals, I’ve installed MidiView, a MIDI logging tool, that confirms that the connection is working. I’ve also briefly started up Cubase, and it registers MIDI signals from TouchOSC as well.

Is there a setting, mode, or anything else I’ve missed that would make Cantabile not receive signals from this port? I’m on Cantabile Performer v4.0 4209 (x64).

Any hints or suggestions appreciated.

You look to have covered the bases. I would re-open the TouchOSC port you created and check the checkboxes for the physical port and make sure it is checked. Can you show that screen too?

So I assume you tried to create a binding or route to an object and there is no MIDI activity on the MIDI indicators. Is that the case?

Yes, that is correct. Or was correct, should I say. I’ve restarted all applications, and now I can’t connect to the TouchOSC port in MidiView anymore, instead I got signals in Cantabile!

The weird thing is, I obviously tried Cantabile without MidiView in the first place, and only when it didn’t work I tried to debug with MidiView. I also don’t see any signals in the TouchOSC desktop app from the TouchOSC tablet anymore. It shows signals from other devices, though.

To summarize:

  • TouchOSC mobile → TouchOSC bridge → Cantabile works now (but I still don’t know what fixed it)
  • TouchOSC desktop doesn’t log any MIDI signals from TouchOSC mobile, but from other devices.

I should mention that I have also a loopback driver running, and I briefly used another app to route the bridge signals to the loopback (which works in Cantabile). This didn’t work and I removed that setup, after which I received the signals in Cantabile.

I suppose that this is resolved now, but given I don’t know what caused it to work, I might post back later. :wink:
