No audio from Main Speakers to Master Output

Hi.

I have an issue in Cantabile that appeared yesterday just out of nowhere. And it happened right during my sound check, on the day of the gig! :anxious_face_with_sweat: Luckily I had another laptop I could use as backup.

I have Cantabile setup to send audio from its Main Speakers to Audio Channels 1 and 2 of my RME babyface. The metronome is sent to channels 3 and 4 of the RME babyface.

When I trigger the metronome, I can hear it fine from channels 3 and 4. And the audio signal of the metronome is indeed visible on the Master Output meter at the top of Cantabile (marked in red in the screenshot). But when I try to play the VST plugins that are routed to my Main Speakers, no audio is heard. I can see audio signal in the Output Ports (marked in blue in the screenshot), but no signal in the Master Output meter at the top.

I’m pretty sure that the issue is not with the way RME Babyface is configured - if I open Cubase and route audio to RME outputs 1 and 2, I can hear audio (and this is without changing any config or routing in the RME Babyface). And the fact that I can’t see any audio signal in the Master Output meter at the top of Cantabile leads me to thing that the issue is coming from Cantabile.

The version of Cantabile I am using is 4171. I’d really appreciate any help into this matter as I can’t keep relying on my old backup laptop for future gigs.

Thank you.

Alan.

I just figured it out and I feel so stupid :man_facepalming:

The volume of the Main Speakers was all the way down. I just couldn’t find it yesterday, you need to go in the Monitor tab on the left.

Its horrible isn’t it. In the heat of the moment things don’t make sense and we tend overcomplicate problems. Your not alone, glad you sorted it.
