Hi.
I have a sound card with four independent outputs. I use outputs 1 and 2 to send the keyboard to the speakers, but I’d like to use output 3 (even in mono) for headphone listening.
I’ve configured it correctly in Cantabile, as you can see in captura1.png.
But I’m wondering if I need to add a new “add route” to each VST for each song I have (more than 100), specifying the in-ear monitor output (captura2.png), or if there’s a faster, cleaner, and better way.

The best way I have found is to have a shared “master output” rack in every song that everything gets routed to, instead of routing to “Main Speakers”.
My master rack has two inputs “Keys In” and “Guitar In”, and a bit of processing inside (master limiter, master EQ), plus the actual routing to Cantabile’s output ports.
So when I added a new “Monitor Out” mono output to drive my monitor speaker, I simply made a change to my “Master Rack” to have the route to the correct output port, plus a MIDI-controllable volume control, and I was done. No need to make any changes to my songs.
Unfortunately, if you DON’T have such a master rack, there’s no way around touching all your songs. But I’d really recommend that while doing so, you re-build your songs with such an output rack instead of creating tons of additional routes to your in-ear port. Just add the “master rack” to all your songs and change the routing of your instruments to go to the master rack. Any change you need to make to your outputs going forward will then only require a change to your Master Rack. Want an EQ on your master? Done! Want to add a separate output for your monitor speaker with a different EQ on it? Done!

Torsten, I’ve been toying with the idea of an output rack as you describe and can see the advantages regarding routing the outputs of the plugins to this rack. However, a little confused with routing the output of the rack to multiple real output ports. Within the ‘output’ rack I only see the virtual Rack output (Rack: Stereo out) and therefore can only route out to the main ‘song’. I can additional virtual output ports within the rack, but, would still need to add routes to the new ‘monitor’ ouput port in the main song file. Is this how to configure the output routes OR is there away of ‘exposing’ the real ports within the ‘output’ rack.
