I mentioned in a previous post that I was putting together an Excel macro to take all my Cantabile splits and layers and provide a bit more information so that I could put them at the bottom of my charts and have a good reference. Having the C4 files formatted as JSON made this much easier.
Here are a couple of pics to demonstrate:
In C4:
And imported into Excel then exported to a graphics format file.
I map the colors from C4 to Excel, and also use the input comments to name the regions in excel.
There are four things I still need to do to make this work generically:
- Bug: There’s too much white space between the mappings in excel (
- Figure out a way to export the files as JPG, PNG (or whatever format will work at this point). For now I’m copy/pasting them over to Finale, which is time intensive as I have over one hundred songs
- Make it work for multiple keyboards/controllers. This will take a bit more
- Set some defaults for naming (e.g., if the input description is blank, I’ll use the routing e.g., DX7V)
If people are interested in the Excel macro in the interim, PM me and I’ll send it and some short instructions over.
