Motorola DSP563xx

Download Virus TI Software Suite 5.1.7.00 64-bit.msi

Open it using a zip manager (I use free 7-zip) and extract the file installer.cab

Open installer.cab and extract the file firmware_bin. Rename it to firmware.bin

Place firmware.bin in the same OsTIrus and OsTIrusFX folder.

That’s all.

I did not know you could use WinZip for that,…

I don’t know if Winzip can handle msi and cab files; 7-Zip can.

Installed the updated version yesterday. Big step forward on CPU, it now runs wit 10-20% time load!

3% Time Load here, Virus TI2 with FX.

It looks like the load is higher for their latest emulator, the Nord Lead 2 (called Nodal Red 2X).
At least that’s what I read on their Discord. Maybe it depends on the hardware structure of NL2, which uses a pair of DSP563xx.

The NL2 emulator is available on the repository.

Tried the Nord as well, impossible to play, 200% and more. May become better in future.

200%? No way. Are you still on i7-8700 PC?
If so, there is something odd there.

On my laptop (i7-10750H) the time load is up to 5% (Ostirus).
On desktop (i7-13700K) the time load is 1% to 3% (Ostirus).
(ASIO buffer: 256)

Still on the same machine. Ostirus is like 8-12% and does not have the CPU spikes anymore it had with the previous version. The Nodal Red 2X gives 200% CPU load even without playing a note, playing actually does not make a difference, I guess it is a beta in the early stages. They will get it better

Not seeing that here. Its typically several percentage points under Ostirus.

Any idea what that could be due to? I run the version 1.4.1

Joop,

the 1.4.1 is the latest stable build of all the “DSP56300” instruments. You could check out the 1.4.2 beta version which you can find in the repository and try it.

But I have some doubts this will be able to fix the 200% TL.

Can you give us some info about the configuration you are using, like audio interface, ASIO buffer setting, TL for every VST?
TBH, I can’t understand why these issues seem to only happen to you.

The change log shows the only thing that changes in 1.4.2 is they added some CSS like features to the skin system (that don’t break backwards compatibility with skins that work for 1.4.1). So its not going to “fix” anything to move to 1.4.2. But given others are not seeing this, I’d install 1.4.2 on the hopes that maybe your 1.4.1 somehow is corrupt.

Also in addition to cpaolo’s suggestions for things to provide us, also whether its specific patches that cause problems or all of them.

Hi Paolo,
I have a Steinberg UR22C, ASIO buffer on 196, i7-8700 PC as you write above. Time load on all vst’s would become a long list,… Normally I would be able to run a relatively CPU hungry vst as Session Strings on Kontakt (fast chords) in parallel with some other instrument, e.g. brass or bass clarinet, e.g. from Halion.
I’ll try the 1.4.2, apparently my copy is not ok.
