Hi, Ive just bought cantabile solo and im having a hard time trying to get the patches on my helix to change when i switch songs . Can cantabile solo send out any midi message at all when a song loads or is this just a feature of performer . If i could send a message to bomes midi translator that would be a great start . Any help appreciated
Hi and welcome to the forum.
To send MIDI messages outside the VST environment you need a “Virtual MIDI Cable”, like the free LoopMidi.
AFAIK there is one included in MIDI Translator, but not sure.
Hi John & Welcome!
Solo does have the bindings to send PG changes so to troubleshoot you need to check that you have created a MIDI OUT port for the Helix in Cantabile. This would be a USB MIDI connection from the Helix to the PC. Once the port is created you could use a binding like this to send the PG change. You can also send Banked PG changes. My example shows External Synth as the target instead of Helix.
Cheers,
Dave
Thanks for the replies I got it working didn’t realize it had to be a binding I was trying to do it in the routing . My next problem is I was trying to get the patches to switch as I selected songs in cantabile ,Ive figured out from a forum post that I need the
song on load` binding which can only be found in performer .So i switched over to the trial version of performer and got it working all good so far .Looks like I’m going to have to invest in performer but I was wondering how long the trial lasts ,I cant seem to find this information anywhere and what are the limitations of the trial ?
Glad you got it going John, I’m sorry, I thought that Solo had that type of binding. You taught me better!
Thanks,
Dave
found it on the splash screen as program loads all good thanks for your help you two
John,
Trial has no limitations.
My tip: for serious use, you’d need Performer.
