I have a short MIDI looping in a media player, but the very last note of the loop only plays correctly about 1/4 of the time. The rest can come early, late, be dropped entirely, or come through with extra velocity. I’ve looked at the file in Reaper and confirmed that there’s nothing wrong with the file, and the last note ends a sixteenth before the end of the loop in C4, so it’s not like the file is missing the last note off or anything.
If I’m watching the MIDI monitor in real-time, the busted loops correspond to what seems to be a note on and note off firing simultaneously. I looked at the monitor for the input, and it’s not there (so it’s not a hardware problem).
Not sure I fully understand the setup - looks like you’re using bindings to trigger the loop?
I’ll need to reproduce it to figure out what’s going on - can you send me the midi file and all details on how you’re looping it (ideally a song/rack that reproduces the issue).
That’s correct-- the goal being that while I hold down a pedal, the bass synth plays the MIDI file (one measure of straight eighths, on loop). Like I said, the file does trigger, and it does loop-- it’s just the last note of the measure that is inconsistent in its behavior. Sometimes it’s fine, but most of the time it’s off either in timing, dynamics, or both.
