Hey, guys, I cannot find the command, but is it possible to load the next song (specified?) at the end of an audio file?
There is this binding . You can also load an indexed song file in the set list at the end of a track if you want.
Whatâs an indexed song?
Hi Maestro,
In Set lists, Song state lists and rack state lists you can reference list entries based a numbered list that is assigned to the list. The list index numbering is based on the formatting you have set in Options>General>Formatting. That is where you determine if your lists begin with 0 or 1. In my examples I use 0 so the first index number in the list is zero. In my answer above it means that instead of loading the next song as my target action I could load set list index 5 for example and it would load the sixth song in the set list.
I hope this explains OK.

Thanks @dave_dore this is clear, a list starting from 0 or 1. Thatâs ok, like some companies use 0-127 or 1-128 for MIDI. Whatâs the opposite of an âindexed songâ, I mean whatâs a no indexed song? We cannot avoid numbering, from 0 or 1, ok. What makes an indexed song better thanâŚ?
In a setlist, there are two ways to address a song
- by index, i. e. its position in the list
- by program number, which you can assign to every song (also âbankedâ program numbers like 1.124)
when you re-order a set list, the index of a specific song changes, but its program number stays the same until you manually edit it.
For illustration: All my songs in my ârepertoireâ setlists carry an individual fixed number, while the setlists are ordered alphabetically - so the indexing changes whenever I add a new song. I use LivePrompter to select a specific song via its program number - a Cantabile binding waits for a program change from LP and then selects the corresponding song by program number.
TL;DR: the alternative to an âindexed songâ is a âsong by program numberâ.
Hope this clarifies!
Cheers

I donât think thereâs a âbetterâ meant in this case I was just showing that instead of using the next and previous type functions (which I believe use the index list) you could also load a song by index number if you wished. The uses for the index numbering has been very useful to me but not regarding set lists but utility racks and instrument racks with a lot of mods in them. Most folk would never use the indexing features and not miss them I think.
Thanks a lot Dave
That works great !!!
I also managed to start the next song when loaded, so nice !
Now gotta find ways to chain media players.
