Korg Collection 6 on Windows 11 - Need to run Cantabile as Administrator

I just purchased the Korg Collection 6 on a spring sale and installed all the plugins.

Every time I tried to run them under Cantabile, it kept asking for the location of the Data folder. The same thing happened in Korg’s standalone exe for the synths.

I finally realized the only way it would recognize the location was running the executable as Administrator. I did some research and this appears to be some funky authentication scheme which also requires an Internet connection. Frankly I’m not sure I would have bought it if I realized this was the case, but now I’m stuck.

I checked and I can run the VST3s under Cantabile Performer IF I run Cantabile as an Administrator. The Korg documentation does indicate that you may need to run your DAW as the Administrator so I guess this is ‘working as designed’ (how totally annoying!!)

My question: is there any downside to running Cantabile under Windows as Administrator? I can make this the default for the exe as compatability option, just wanted to be sure there wasn’t some penalty. Thanks!

BTW- I also sent an email to Korg USA Support to see if they provide any options.

This turned out to be an installation folder permissions issue. For some reason, some of the Korg synth database folders were installed in Program Files\Common Files instead of User\Public. I moved the folders and the plugins now run without Run As Administrator. I didn’t see any issues running Cantabile as administrator but I’m happy I don’t need this.
