Kontakt 8 free Piano UNO

When I downloaded the new Kontakt, I was surprised to find a piano within Kontakt 8. I spent a lot of time wrapping my head around the new Kontakt, and didn’t bother to try UNO. I was setting up some new songs for New Years Eve using my go to Acoustic Samples Academic Grand for Kontakt, but I needed more depth. Instead of EQing it, I moved to PianoTeq, and was not really getting what I wanted quickly.
So…
I kept seeing UNO, tried it, and was pleasantly surprised. I didn’t need to adjust it because it was what I wanted, and is easy on resources. It sounded very good on “Silver Blue and Gold” by Bad Company. I plan to test it on a few songs during NY Eve gig.
I have a plethora of pianos I could use, but this one caught my ear for some reason. Maybe just a new contender in my stash I guess!

I planned to wait for the new Kontakt version until they have an attractive deal, but this sounds promising.
I actually digged into the Melda Grand (Melda,…) and I am starting to get affectionated to it. It was not love on first sight, for some reason it did not catch my ear immediately. However it is deeply sampled, good dynamic range, full bass and nice discant. You do have to tweak it to get it sound right. The real interesting thing is that, having the full version of Msoundfactory, it is possible to tune all the details that normally are hidden. For now it is my runner up on place 2.

A little CPU hog,…

I was puzzled when I saw the installer size, twice that of Kontakt 7.
