Keypress to trigger performance view custom button

I just got an AirTurn bt500/4. After struggling a bit and a firmware update, it now connects to windows fine and emulates a keyboard. I have next song, last song, and start/stop working mapped to arrow keys. In performance view, i have a custom button, that basically sends midi message to my light controller to black it out. The custom button works great on screen, but i don’t see a way i can may a keyboard keypress (up arrow) to trigger the custom button that sends a midi message. Am i missing something obvious?

how about using the key press to send the program change directly - without going through the custom button?

That sounds like its perfect. Cant confirm till i hook up the lights, but i added to background rack.
