Suppose I have a song that uses a keyboard split, and I’m applying the Keyboard Split MIDI filter. I set the split point where it best fits my instrumentation. Later, I may want to transpose the entire song up or down. However, when I do this, the split point shifts “physically” on the keyboard. That’s a problem, because I still want to play the same keys as before - only the resulting pitches should change.
I know I can create a split that’s unaffected by global transposition by setting up two separate inputs and assigning independent key ranges, but that approach is more cumbersome than simply using the Keyboard Split filter.
This can be done if the ranges are set in the route control window and the global transpose is used. So if I may ask where are you applying the key range adjustments, in the MIDI filter or the route control screen? If you set the ranges in the route control window then the global transpose will not affect the ranges you have already set.
First make sure “Ignore Global Transpose” is checked in your route settings. This prevents Cantabile from transposing notes before they reach your key split filter.
