Keyboard recognition confusion

I have 3 keyboards- a Roland A88 which remains at home, and a Casio PXS1000 and Roland A49 which I gig with. When using both Roland keyboards at home, Cantabile recognizes the 88 as “A-series keyboard” and the 49 as “A-Series keyboard #2”. If just one of these keyboards is connected, Cantabile will identify either one as “A Series keyboard”. Is there a way to set the Cantabile (or the keyboards) so that it always recognizes these two keyboards as different entities?

Get a “classic” 2 input MIDI (DIN plug) interface and plug your keyboards into specific ports. Always works

So something like this?

Yes. Or a similar one.

I’ll have to admit I’m a little rusty on running classic midi. I was looking at a Roland UM1 mk2. So I guess this is not a 2x2 interface? Would it allow me to send midi from two different keyboards and then interface with my computer via USB?

Nope. It’s a 1in 1out interface. You need a 2in version.

Agree. At least for me, going 5-pin din to a USB converter works all the time with no “USB keyboard confusion.” I’ve been using the Midisport 2x2 with no issues. Easy to find and relatively inexpensive. No matter what is plugged into the A-Input (DIN), it always goes into Cantabile the same way. Same with the B-Input. Always plug the Midisport into the same USB port…
