So… A few months ago I added a second footswitch (CC66 - Sostenuto) to my rig to control Leslie speed. It works great, but now I have need to use the pedal for other things (advancing the State within a song, etc.) when I’m not using for the Leslie.
Here’s my problem (and my wife will attest to this as well)… I tend to lose things.
In this case, I thought I added a binding to the Background rack to assign the 2nd switch over to the Leslie, but it’s not in the background rack.
Then I thought MAYBE I added it to the linked rack that I have the VB3 in. It’s not there either.
THEN I thought MAYBE i had reassigned VB3 to use 66 instead of 64 to switch. Not there either.
Since the functionality is working, it’s got to be in Cantabile somewhere.
I’d use a MIDI monitor on the VB3 rack MIDI IN to see what is being sent to it when you press the pedal. It should clear up what cc is being sent and help you find your binding.
I’m constantly using the the “Find in files” function in Notepad++ to search in my Cantabile projects directory for things like this. It’s especially useful when i remember to comment my bindings, so i can search for “speed” or “footsw” in a case like you mentioned.
I don’t know whether upgrading C4 to the latest build is the issue, or (more likely) I deleted the background rack with the bindings that have worked for a while.
Now I’m trying to recreate them and I’m hoping that someone can help me.
I’m using a simple “damper” style footswitch that is mapped to CC68 in my MOXF (not 66 as previously reported).
Ideally hitting it once would send a CC1 (mod wheel) message of 127 (or 0) and the opposite when hit again. I seem to remember some type of “latch” setting at one point, but I can’t find it and I may just be even more forgetful than I thought
I will put it in the Vb3-II linked rack so it only functions when that plug in rack is in the routing.
I also want to be able to use that same pedal in song bindings to either:
a. Advance to the next song state or…
b. Do something else
Obviously this would only be useful when the song doesn’t have the VB3II rack in it.
When testing from the binding dialog, it seems to work fine, but when using the pedal it doesn’t latch (it only keeps the effect when holding down the pedal, which is not what I want).
Looking at it in the MIDI monitor (in the VB3 rack) isn’t helping me track it down further.
That did the trick. It works as expected, and it’s in the VB3 rack this time so it’s going to allow me to reuse the pedal to advance the song part (or anything else) if I need it to.
Issue resolved (at least the pedal issue - I still have a chronic case of CRS).
