The media server started out more as a proof of concept than as an actual product, but I think it’s useful enough that it’s worth dealing with the complexity of setting it up if you need that kind of functionality.
Unfortunately, in your case it was made more difficult by a bug on my part, and a weird MIDI port name on your device… but we got there in the end.
Let me know if you have more questions about it, happy to help if you need it.
Whilst a proof of concept, I think it is excellent as it is even if not an actual product.
It does require a little bit of adventurousness to get up and running, but as an ex technician that does not scare or bother me, and hopefully my guide will help ( @The_Elf any feedback on improving it would be appreciated) .
It certainty saved me $150 compared to getting a new license for SCS11 (or researching other options), and it does everything I want, so well worth the effort to get up and running.
I have to be honest and say that I skipped over a lot of your document in trying to stick with the basic set up described on Github. Maybe if your guide took the Github example as a starting point? I didn’t get far into the document before I had everything I needed to know - I stopped at ‘Setup Cantabile’. Apologies!
It might be worth mentioning the free Handbrake for converting video, though I haven’t a clue whether I’ve used the best settings for the conversion. At first I realised that I was reducing the video quality heavily and I just chose something that seemed to produce a similar file size to the originals.
