Hi, I switched from Cantabile 3 to Cantabile 4 a few weeks ago.
In Cantabile 3, when I pressed the spacebar, the state changed almost instantly, and the audio cutout wasn’t noticeable.
Now in Cantabile 4, when I press the spacebar, it takes a while to change state (and therefore the audio), and sometimes I need to change very quickly and it gets stuck in the previous state until it changes to the new one…
Is there any way to make this change faster? By preloading all the states or something?
Check this recent thread for a bunch of good ideas:
Depending on what you’re trying to do, it might be better to just enable/disable the individual synths. In general, my understanding is that all VST’s get loaded when a song loads, so unless your states are loading different sample sets or complex presets, it should be close to instant… it generally is for me.
It is strange that something worked faster in C3 vs C4, though I think that’s a Brad discussion.
-I just created a new song
-Two states
-Same VST in both states
*When I change with the mouse, the change is instantaneous
*When I press the spacebar (the state name appears in large text below the screen), it takes about half a second to change.
I don’t understand
I hope @dave_dore@brad or someone can tell me what’s causing this.
I guess you must have created a binding to change state using the spacebar. Since the binding system has changed a bit with version 4100 in June 2023, you should check that the binding (after conversion from C3 to C4) is still setup (and it is still working) as expected. Check for any delay or other unwanted settings introduced in converting your old binding (which was working in C3) to the new C4 system.
I would start by comparing the parameters of the binding in C3 and C4.
What build of C4 are you running ? At one point there was a bug where Delayed and Instant load actions were reversed from what they are supposed to be. Looking at the release notes, i see that this was fixed in Build 4062. (With the bug fix, I had to re-do my bindings where i had originally had to select Delayed to get Instant.)
