Help with plugin scanning

Hi All,

Short version goes like this - did a clean install of win 11 (64 bit, 5950x machine), installed Cantabile, added some VST3 Native instruments plugins and UVI shade. They boot individually without Cantabile. In Cantabile they don’t scan, and I’m getting errors like below. Is there a shared VST3 library?

My single current VST2 (Garritan CFX lite) runs fine.

Thoughts?

Thanks!

Matt

Check that you have this folder
C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3
In Options File Locations or Plugin Folder locations.

Yes, it’s there, thus generated the error seen in log as the VST was scanned.

Earlier part of the log is as follows:

Interesting. The VSTs scan fine under fruity loops. This may be a cantabile exclusive. May need to bug Brad.

All cantabile development to cease for a few min while the creator is bugged… (ducks and runs!)

Humpf. Needed jbridge. Didn’t know anything was 32 bit anymore…

Head bonk.

Thanks all!

So just to generalize this a little. I had installed jbridge years ago while looking for some fun at the moment VST. I think jbridge was probably free at that point. Totally forgot about it. Didn’t think I really needed it. But after reinstalling windows have now discovered that some rather known VST makers, ie Native Instruments, still compile everything in 32 bit. Fruity loops apparently has its own bridge, but Cantabile needs an external. There was some verbiage buried in the log file, but it was kinda long… Eventually read it. (ducks and runs again!)

hmm, AFAIK the current Native Instruments plugins are all 64 bit - are you sure you have installed them correctly? My whole installed Komplete range is 64 bit, including Guitar Rig and FM8 - no bridging needed at all.

Better check your installation using Native Access.

Cheers,

Torsten

Interesting. Turns out that the plugins that have scanned are VST2. The VST3 only ones (Kontakt7, Shade) haven’t scanned. Same error - loadSharedLibrary failed.

Native Access has default install locations for 32 and 64 bit. I haven’t changed them. I decided long ago that changing directory locations is too much trouble…

Back to drawing board…

So oops. Was running the 32 bit version of Cantabile… Done now for real…
