I just downloaded the demo. Will give it a thorough test this weekend.
Just installed demo. BTW, while weāre on the subject of piano - I used IK Multimediaās Stage 73 Mark V for a Rolling Stones cover and it blended in nicely. I got it as one of my 25 freebies during the last group buy.
Been dealing with this for about 3 hours. I had to download all the sound sets (5 in all). The grand set was almost 800 MB, which is not bad, but the GSI server was slooooow. The other sound sets were less than 200 MB. There are many presets, but all of them sounded like the sustain pedal was permanently engaged. Havenāt figured it out yet. The cpu load is minimal. Switching presets are immediate. Pianoteq is far superior, but much more expensive. This just came out, and the are expecting more sound sets soon. Once I figure out the sustain problem, I can comment on the sounds.
I bought for iPad last night.
My Novation 61 sl is fine but my Studiologic VMK 61 has tho sustain issue.
From memory the VMK sends velocity 0 for note offs. I think thats the problem.
Iāll contact GSI shortly.
I was impressed with the sounds I tried (the first grand and tine)
The sustain bug was interesting because it had none of the sympathetic resonance associated with lifting the damper; the notes were just held down.
There is actually a āresonanceā control too which is rare and cool to have. It sounds really good.
The Steinway 274, at least the one available on this demo, didnāt impressed me at all. Beside its low volume and the weird default velocity curve (working badly on my SL88), I hear a muffled sound lacking brightness except at very high velocity level. Hope the ārealā 274, not present in this demo, is better.
I prefer so much Pianoteq and all my (often huge) sampled Steinway libraries. Anyway, for gigs, I prefer the Yamaha CFX Grand. The Garritan is a very good lib, well playable and enjoyable.
The Wurly and Clavinet are definitely better, maybe the D6 has too much noise.
Combo1 and Combo2 are the usual '90s workstation sounds.
CPU impact is low, a bit higher with effects, as expected.
No problems with download speed, it took me less than five minutes.
Purchased this for iPad and Iām impressed with both the Steinway D Concert and Yamaha C5 concert. Both have ārockā versions which are too bright for solo playing but might be just right in a sound-competitive live band situation. Wurlies and Rhodes also sound good to me.
I had problems with VB3 II crashing Cantabile which to this day remains unsolved. Iām not taking chances with my live rig crashing mid performance. Pianoteq Pro has been incredibly stable for me and never crashed so Iām sticking with it.
