I read a great article on gain staging for live mixes here: Setting Sound System And Mixing Console Gain Staging. I found it very straightforward in explaining why this is important in multi channel mixing. I don’t know for sure but think Cantabile should react the same as an outboard mixer so hopefully the concepts will crossover. This chart in particular shows how normal program material on multiple channels can really add up fast.
It’s probably why limiters are often used on the main output buss!
