File management for programs and .dll files

Hello all,
Just upgraded to a 1TB 7200rpm internal HHD in my laptop. Sorry for those that piped in on my other post…I did not get an SSD, but I did find out there is an empty spot for an mSSD…so hopefully will purchase a small one in the near future.

Now, I have installed windows 10, which was partitioned into 3 drives. No problem there, since windows loaded into a small partition. I named the large partition ‘VST Drive’. I’m sure I do not need to explain that. I have installed Komplete 10 so far. I did not go with heir naming conventions when I installed it. Here are my files conventions so far:

1 Program Files for Program Application and documentation
2.VST .dll 32bit
3.VST .dll 64bit
4.VST Program Libraries for all individual libraries
EDIT I ALSO HAVE A DOWNLOAD FOLDER

This is, of course, a slow process. As I install, I am also deleting any unneeded documentation.

Am I going about this the most efficient way for a streamlined file system? Any thoughts are welcome. Thanks!

That’s more or less how I do it. I don’t know if splitting a physical drive into separate virtual drives really helps performance, or maybe even hurts it. It can certainly help from an organization standpoint. Obviously if you get an SSD you’ll probably want to move large data files that take a long time to load over there, like sample libraries.

Thanks for the reply Fred. I am having to tweet a bit due to how different companies name things. But, still generally the same as mentioned. I will post a follow-up on this once I am done. Slow, but deliberate process. Trying to not make the mistakes I made before. Also, ridding the computer of the zip files is something I am doing. I can deal with slow downloads, or using a backup from USB if necessary to reinstall any program.
