Question: has anyone ever experienced following: sound output suddenly drops to almost nothing. I can see Cantabile outputting at “normal” levels, but can hardly hear anything. Happened twice now over course of 1 year. Presonus 26c, asio4alll, voicemeeter. Reboot of sound engine does nothing; reboot of Cantabile fixes the problem. Very weird.
Any clues? If would expect the problem to be the sound card - but strange that it takes a Cantabile reboot.
I had the same symptoms with single instruments. Suddenly the volume dropped, reloading the song/scene/state changed the volume back to normal.
The cause: one Controller was broken and ocassionally gave wrong values.
Check the bindings and dont forget the bindings in the background rack.
That is scary at a gig, and if it’s intermittent it’s even more unsettling. But even though a reboot fixed it I don’t think that definitively means it’s in Cantabile. Maybe @Brad can shine some light on this.
I had an issue with an interface intermittently not connecting a few years ago, a reboot of Cantabile usually fixed it for the session, but it turned out to be the interface and driver. Maybe try the latest driver for your Presonus, and if it persists try the previous one. My experience with asio4all years ago was that it worked most of the time but I got far more stability and improved performance from mfr drivers. I’m running a Presonus Quantum 2626 now.
Do you have the log file? If not turn on logging under Tools/Diagnostics in Cantabile, and if it happens again save the logs… see if you can find the issue or send to Brad or post it here.
You could also try a clean install of Cantabile if you still suspect Cantabile. Of course save everything first… BG rack, songs, setlists, racks, and the settings json file… but when installing don’t restore the json file just yet, use the newly installed one and test. I only say that because sometimes I get weird behavior when moving the json file.
Just my .02.

Found a way to service my needs without Voicemeeter & Asio4All - so back to the presonus drivers. Curious if this will happen again (only happened like twice over a 1 year period to be fair).
