I have a tone generator coming in over ndi audio direct into an embedded rack. It’s coming in mono and is routed to a mono output on the embedded rack. The plugin is showing 0db output on it’s meter. The rack output, however, is showing around half on the meter. It’s quite low. There is nothing between the plugin and the output, and all gains are at unity. What could be accounting for the volume drop?
Can you post some screen shots showing the rack setup including the configuration of any input/output ports it’s using? (It sounds like a mono/stereo mismatch perhaps)
Is there any stereo processing going on in the plugin? For example: if I connect a mono input like an EP to a stereo chorus, then sum the two outputs back to mono, there is likely to be a good deal of phase cancellation going on inside. To prove/disprove this, one would create separate L and R outputs for the plugin, then test to see if each one has proper output when used alone.
