Downgrading After Expired License

Unfortunately my subscription to C4 Performer expired awhile back. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I cannot afford to continue. I get the this version expired toasty.

I would like to back down to Lite but it won’t let me for the above stated reasons

My question is: if I uninstall Performer 4 and then install 4 Lite will that work?

My suspicion is Cantabile will check my user creds and licenses and not let me do it.

It’s sad because I’ve been using Cantabile since November 27, 2014!

Any advice would be welcome.

Thanks in advance,

Ron

Hi Ron,

as far as I know you should be able to continue running the Performer version, without updates. Website is saying: “If you decide not to continue with updates, Cantabile will continue to run but you’ll miss out on any new features and fixes”.

Thanks for that. I know about that but it won’t run without the popup saying it only “covers releases up to 5/6/2023, not this build.”

I tried to install earlier versions but no joy.

That happens with any option I choose including trial versions.

Maybe uninstall performer, then install lite?

Thanks Corky. But I’m afraid I’ll lose my license completely!

One has to uninstall the entire C4, not just parts.

At least C3 Performer gets the MIDI I need!!! But my recent C4 files are not there !!!

I suggest you ask @brad for an answer. You will still have the last paid license, but won’t have the ability to add newer versions. At least, that my understanding.

I’ve replied to @soundassets via email but for reference:

If your update subscription has expired you can still run any build released before the expiration date indefinitely.

Full details here.

Thanks. I can only run C4 Lite, unless you can specify a different build?

My expiration was 5/6/2024 for Performer.
Build 4203 (x64)

Any other ideas.

Brad. I was in an unfortunate accident and I’m not one to bargain. Cantabile has been great therapy and I’d hate to see it go. I surely know you are a busy man but if you could suggest anything for me, as a loyal customer, I would be grateful, to say the least.

The A-PRO midi ports do not work in C4. Everything works fine in C3 Performer!

Got A-PRO to work in C4 Lite Build 4203 x64
16 October 2024!!!

Thank you,

Ron

Thank you, Brad.

The problem seemed to be a “corrupted” A Pro route. Once I deleted and chose the correct one, that solved the problem.

A C4 Performer build prior to the expiration date is running now.
Hopefully I will be able to get the latest version soon.

Much thanks for your help and a remarkable program.

Ron

Hi @soundassets,

I’m can’t see how MIDI routes would affect licensing? Email me with some more details and we can probably get this sorted.

Brad

Got me baffled as well!

I don’t think it has anything to do with licensing.

I got a message about that particular A Pro 1 port not connecting. I just used another copy I already had set up for ages and boom, instant joy.

I probably broke it. Don’t think its a Cantabile issue. Likely I screwed up the nicknames.

I wasn’t able to work with my rig for months. Coming back into the studio was fixing a lot of stuff that I just have been away from for too long.

Thanks for getting back to me, Brad.
