I agree, all fine for me. I think it’s important to keep a single combined option for (1), rather than leave it to the OS, as it may be something you only want to do when running Cantabile.
3 . You can move the esc key to the hot keys right? IMO there can’t be enough command you can assign to hot keys. Even macro scripts would be nice. (see reaper)
I do think a warning before accidental shutdown is needed, when you use allot of key shortcuts
I have all 3 of the Power and Suspend checked. I am OK with combining the highlighted ones into a single option, but I like the fact that this is controlled within Cantabile and not at the OS level, since this is the one program that I use where I do not want the screen saver to be invoked.
I do use the Window Scaling, but I simply set both options to the same value of 150% because the native OS resolution makes things too small for my bad eyesight when I’m playing live (but I’m not exactly sure which windows each option controls, so I don’t have a strong preference here).
I have not used the Shutdown options up until now, but at our practice just this week, I accidentally closed Cantabile when I was trying to make and save a change in the middle of the song. So I had decided to start using the Prompt before exiting feature. (I do not use, nor want to use, the Esc key option.)
I use the window scaling function. I have a notebook with a 4K display, this feature helped me to better adjust the resolution.
Closing functions are not important for me and also the function prevent screen saver and monitor power suspend.
Just to clarify something here… “Other Window Scaling” only affects windows like Options dialog, MIDI route settings and other “dialogs”. I’m not planning to remove the main window scaling.
There are a couple of reasons I’m thinking of removing this setting:
Although Cantabile’s forms can be scaled other UI Elements don’t scale - eg: title bars/fonts, menus, message boxes, file and folder dialogs etc… These elements are provided by Windows and can’t be (easily) resized.
There are system settings to control scaling that work on the above mentioned elements so why not just use the same setting for Cantabile’s forms too. ie: this setting from Win 10:
OS X doesn’t provide good support for re-scaling forms. In particular certain UI elements (eg: buttons) are fixed in height and can’t be programatically changed.
ie: pretty sure I’m going to remove this setting and use the system setting instead.
