Amazing … ![]()
Not really into that gospel thing, but the Hammond playing is awesome
Vangelis and organ. I now realize, we need a virtual bow tie and dress shirt:
And what a voice!

If only I had known that in those years!!
Hammond B-3X 1.3.5 update
Minimum required macOS version is now 10.13
Reduced installer size
Fixed an issue where the plugin version would appear blurry on Windows when DPI scaling is higher than 100%
Improved startup time
Added support for Hammond SK Pro series models
Added the possibility to select what plug-in formats to install on macOS
Fixed a graphical glitch when switching Leslie models
General reliability improvements
Weirdness: according to the timestamp on the B-3X VST files, I updated to v1.3.5 last December. What’s wrong?
I remember update late last year, but I got a message yesterday, and checked it out. I thought the 1.3.4 was in December. Don’t know why I got an update from one of the organ forums about 1.3.5.
I have found this.
Trivia for those who may not have noticed - the Gospel Rotary has a full B3 type vibrato section built in. Easily missed, because one wouldn’t typically see that circuit on the Leslie itself.
C3 vib on a Rhodes or clav is pretty nice!
I was aware of it when I watched the YouTube walkthrough, but haven’t used it separately yet on another instrument. Glad you found it and reminded me of it!
Tried (free) Poulin HyBrit Marshall sim in the chain?
First impressions …. It likes a Hammond - it likes feeding a Leslie - It roars nicely.
What’s that you say…to old to rock?
Thanks for sharing, Steve.
You made me curious. I did a bit of research and that’s what I found: the “grandpa” at the hammond (that’s how they call him in the comments on youtube) is Papp Gyula, hungarian keyboard player, born in 1951 (gosh …he’s only 13 years older than me!).
He played with a few prog/hard rock bands, since the 70ies. Here is one example, Skorpio (Live in Berlin, 1976):
Gabriel
Compulsive viewing.
That Skorpio video is almost on par entertainment wise as the first one. What a crew. When I found the first video, I thought ok…let’s see what these guys have…and then the camera zeroed in on Papp and I thought…oh here we go…then he started playing and I thought…he’s got skills. For a 72 year old guy he’s got some speed in those digits.
Whoa, look out!! New Hammond alert
On sale for around £1,000 in the UK. Probably the cheapest “real Hammond” I have seen.
Silly question: isn’t there a split?
My mini setup is an XBoard 49 with Surface Pro laptop attached to the top, usually running the Cherry Audio Blue 3 in Perform mode with the Focus button clicked so only drawbars. I control the Leslie with mod wheel and use a Yamaha FC7 expression pedal. Using one or two JBL Eon 10’s on half size PA tripods.
