Today I tried BIAB, but I found it over-complicated, and loaded as a VST in Cantabile was sloppy; used as a standalone I found that it is unable to record all its tracks together with my plugins, so I returned it
Now I am using ChordPulse + VirtualMIDI Synth that is exactly the easy accompaniment tool I searched for
Using Wasapi in not exclusive mode I can listen to the ChordPulse output and playing along with my plugins in Cantabile
My only problem is that I cannot set the VirtualMIDI Synth as an input in Cantabile (only as an output), and I cannot record it together with my plugins
To use ChordPulse with Cantabile, the best way is to simply pipe its MIDI output through a virtual MIDI cable into Cantabile, then use a General MIDI plugin within Cantabile to create the audio output.
You can use loopMIDI as a virtual MIDI cable to send MIDI data from ChordPulse to Cantabile (you’ll have to create a MIDI input port in Cantabile connected to the loopMIDI port so you can use the MIDI data).
As a General MIDI plugin, I’d suggest using the free BassMidi plugin by Falcosoft - you can use the same sound fonts you use with VirtualMIDI Synth within the BassMidi plugin.
Now you have everything to play the output from ChordPulse within Cantabile together with your VST instruments - and of course also record the result.
Yesterday I tried loopMIDI, but I had no success
Those strange “cables” make me mad usually, but I’ll try it again
I’ll keep the other tool you mentioned, and I’ll try to have it working
Thanks for now
COOL!
Works like a charm
I was wrong thinking that I had to pipe the “audio” output, while I had to pipe the “MIDI” output, argh
As I said, those “virtual anything” make me mad
Now, the quality of ChordPulse is lower than BIAB or dedicated plugins, but I am more than satisfied with ChordPulse because it is so light on resources that I can have latencies unimaginable before
