Thought some of you Soul and Southern Rock fans might enjoy this short documentary.
Cool! Don’t Imagine the Dixie Dregs got a mention…
Dixie Dregs, now that’s a name from the past…
There are a lot of people not mentioned, but it was a very short CBS This Morning segment. No doubt the bigger selling bands were mentioned, but there were a ton of artists on the label.
Just to mention a few others:
Wet Willie
Elvin Bishop
Widespread Panic
The Marshall Tucker Band
Percy Sledge
Kitty Wells
Kenny Chesney
Junior Kimbrough
Gov’t Mule
Cake
Delbert McClinton
Billy Thorpe
…and many more.
The Dregs did a tour only 2 years ago or so…
That was a nice feature. I used to seek out Capricorn products in the cutout bins as a teenager to spend my spare pennies, so the sound was influential to me, even some of the obscure artists. It was nice to hear from Chuck Leavell. I enjoyed his band Sea Level. If you haven’t heard them, give them a few spins on your favorite streaming service.
