Cantabile SOLO dislikes UJAM & MusicLab guitars

As per title, Cantabile Solo crashes quite often while I use those plugins
This doesn’t happen with e.g. Bitwig Studio, so I am forced to use the latter currently

Any suggestion about the possible reason?
I think I sent a couple of crash reports

I don’t think that RAM is the problem because I doubled it, and I have plenty of RAM currently

Well, I decided to sell all UJAM guitars
I love Cantabile too much
but now I need another rhythm guitar plugin, urgh :upside_down_face:

Unfortunately, it doesn’t swallow MusicLab guitars as well

Well, this stops me using Cantabile unless a fix or an easy workaround jumps out
It is a shame because I love Cantabile, but I love the MusicLab LP guitar a lot

You quit too easily my friend. You give no details, no screen shots, nor data. Yet, you quickly blame Cantabile for your problem when you’ve made no effort to prove your claim.

Did you bother to send a crash report to @Brad, so he can diagnose what is causing the problem?

Diagnostic Options - Cantabile - Software for Performing Musicians

Did you bother to research within the provided guides?

Open Settings Folder
Launches Windows Explorer showing Cantabile’s settings folder.

Generate Crash Dumps
Captures detailed error information if Cantabile a loaded plugin crashes. These files are essential in helping us resolve issues with Cantabile and after a crash dump is generated you’ll be prompted to send it for diagnosis. Please do.
Include Data Segments in Crash Dumps
Captures a lot more information in the crash dump. So much that the file will be typically too large to email. Sometimes we’ll ask for this to be turned on and we’ll provide an upload location to send the file.
Abort on Managed Exception
Some exceptions can be safely ignored. Although these issued need to be investigate Cantabile will typically continue running to allow you to save your work. Sometimes we’ll ask to turn this option on before reproducing an issue so we can capture additional information about the problem.

The forum members can not help you without information. All you have given is a generic “It don’t work so I quit” statement. That will not get you anywhere.

I am sure I sent 2 reports at least for the UJAMs

Maybe I missed the same for the MusicLab, but I have a lot of work to do these days
I’ll do that during the weekend, if I can

Anyway, I was unable to produce screenshots because the whole GUI crashed (so no error messages)

I just sent the crash files, linked to the MusicLab plugin
I hope that Brad is able to find the culprit

Note: I use any guitar plugin together with a fixed trio, that is EZkeys, EZbass and Jamstix, but I only had 2 series of crashes using all 4 UJAMs guitars (relevant crash files sent before) and 1 using a MusicLab guitar: this is why I said that Cantabile doesn’t like those guitars
but maybe I am wrong

I just reviewed your recent crash reports.

  • Crash in plugin: RealLPC during audio processing
  • Crash in plugin: VG_SPARKLE during audio processing
  • Crash in plugin: VG_SILK during audio processing
  • Crash due to VK_SPARKLE failing to save its state (never seen that before I’ll see if I can add protection against that)
  • Crash in plugin: Scalar 2 during audio processing

ie: most of these crashes seem to be related to plugins crashing during audio processing.

There were also a couple of other crashes during unloading of plugins which could be related to Cantabile - I’ll look into those and make fixes where possible.

It seems I was right, telling about an idiosyncrasy with those plugins
Well, I sold all UJAMs, and stopped using Scaler 2
And I also stopped using Scaler 3 because it doesn’t fix the only 3 issues I had with Scaler 2, and it makes complex the few things that were easy in version 2

but I hope I will be able to use the MusicLab plugins because their sound and usability are way better than any other guitar plugin I used/tested so far
